Mountains Restoration Trust received a grant from the Community Assistance Program of the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and the U.S. Department of the Interior, National Park Service that will help support the Monte Nido Fire Safe Council. The council will help keep the community of Monte Nido be wildland fire safe through a series of workshops.

Two upcoming workshops will focus on the home ignitions zone. The second workshop will host vendors who specialize in fire safe materials. The third seminar will talk about ornamental and wildland vegetation.

Last spring, two seminars took place at Saddle Peak Lodge and featured presentations by fire science experts from the National Park Service, LA County Fire Department and Wildlife Information Consulting of Orange County.
