In a 3-1 vote, the Planning Commission on Tuesday denied an alcohol permit application for the Circle K gas station, located on the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Rambla Pacifico Road. Commissioners John Mazza, Joan House and Vice Chair Lisa Toledo stated “oversaturation of alcohol venues in the city of Malibu” as the primary reason for denial. Commissioner Jeffrey Jennings voted in favor of the permit, but with many restrictions.
Many local residents opposing the permit attended the meeting and voiced their concerns. Development consultant Don Schmitz represented the Sarraf family.
