With a new movie, a new baby and a new award, Malibu’s Robert Downey Jr. has a lot to look forward to.

Congrats to longtime resident and action star Robert Downey Jr. who scored big with voters at the MTV Movie Awards. The two-hour program took place at the Nokia Theatre and featured some of Hollywood’s hottest stars.

Musical performances included the rock hip-hop combo Fall Out Boy. Together with rapper Fetty Wap, they offered a unique rendition of “Trap Queen.”

Jimmy Kimmel kept things lively presenting the “Comedic Genius” award to Kevin Hart. “Neighbors” duo Zac Efron and Dave Franco picked up prizes for best pairing. Accolades were also bestowed on diva Jennifer Lopez as well as hunky Bradley Cooper.

One of the biggest highlights came as the cast of the upcoming “Avengers: Age of Ultron” gathered on stage to present RDJ with the Generation Award. They included Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Jeremy Renner.

But Downey, now one of the world’s biggest stars, took time out to take a look back. After a few rocky years way back when, he was happy to share some more mature words of advice, saying, “Dream big. Work hard. Keep your nose clean. Be of service because you can change your generation.” The heartfelt speech also referenced his fall from grace and return to glory.

The 50-year-old actor and action star reflected, “In the 34 years that have passed since the birth of MTV, I’ve grown up, I’ve struggled, I’ve failed. I’ve partied way too much. I begged for second chances and literally clawed my way to the top.” He left the stage with the iconic MTV golden popcorn box prize in his hand. He later tweeted, “Many Avengers assembled here @MTV to bestow the Generation Award upon me. Many thanx for the good clean fun!”

He joins an impressive roster of Generation Award winners, including Johnny Depp, Reese Witherspoon, Sandra Bullock, Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and Mark Wahlberg.

In true MTV style, the show ended with an explosion of confetti cannons. From up-and-coming talent to established legends, this is one extravaganza that has something for everyone.

RDJ’S BIG BIRTHDAY BASH

The MTV Generation Award winner had even more to celebrate a few days earlier. They pulled out all the stops at his mega 5-0 blowout.

Photographers were in a frenzy at the Barker Hanger in Santa Monica as pals like Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon and Orlando Bloom gathered to toast the birthday boy.

They were among 250 lucky A-listers who got to get in on the festivities. And this was a party like no other. Each guest was given a one-of-a-kind lunch box filled with maps to color-themed rooms. Each one represented a decade of the actor’s life.

First-class food truck fare was served up from an Airstream trailer. There was even a 45-minute musical set of classics from the pop group Duran Duran.

All in all, quite a week for Robert and what can you say, but — you’ve come a long way baby!
