Incoming Malibu High School sixth grader Matthew Awbrey placed first in two divisions of the MCSA surf competition held at Zuma beach on Aug 8. Awbrey, who has been competing locally for the past two years, placed first in the Boys and Girls 12 and Under division and in the Open Longboard category. He also placed first in the Junior Lifeguards annual surf contest at Leo Carillo the week before.
