MHS girls varsity basketball wins big

Malibu High School’s girls varsity basketball team started their regular season play last week at home. The team had two wins in their home opener.

In the first game, All-League guard Danielle Bush led the Sharks to the 61-17 defeat of New Roads High. Bush scored 20 points in the first half of the game.

Freshman guard Marie Vazelakis scored 12 points and forward Sierra Zontelli had 15 rebounds.

The Sharks’ second victory was against Cate High School, 50-30. Bush led Malibu with 19 points.

“They certainly are making progress and bonding more as a team as we move along. Next week we play in a five-day tournament at Viewpoint School, which I’m sure will be quite challenging,” Coach Andy Meyer said in a recent press release.
