Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Ventura County will host its “Guiding Stars in the Lives of Foster Children” Gala at Calamigos Ranch next Saturday, May 7. Co-chaired by Malibu resident Mimi Magnuson, the gala will raise funds for the child advocacy services that CASA provides to the foster children of Ventura County.
There are approximately 1,000 children in the Ventura County foster care, and CASA currently provides services to 28 percent of these children. Funds raised at the event will enable CASA to train and recruit more volunteers in an attempt to reach their goal of ensuring that every foster child has an advocate.
Guest speaker Dr. Jaiya John of Soul Water Rising will share his story of being born into foster care and overcoming obstacles on his journey to becoming an internationally recognized speaker, author and mentor.
