The Waves picked up a 76-68 loss in a home game against San Diego Saturday afternoon. Pepperdine trailed close behind the Toreros at 39-38 in the beginning of the second half, but a slew of missed shots and turnovers allowed the opponents to gain close to a 10-point lead toward the end.

Senior guard Lamond Murray Jr. led the Waves with 23 points on the board, followed by senior forward Chris Reyes with 20. Senior guard Jeremy Major scored 11 points during the match, and had a team-high seven rebounds, and freshman guard Elijah Lee had yet another season-high of seven assists in his second career start.

Freshmen Craig LeCesne and Nolan Taylor rounded the team’s five players to add to the scoreboard, with LeCesne contributing nine points off the bench and Taylor following with five.

Pepperdine visits Pacific tonight at 7 p.m., before returning home for a Saturday, Jan. 14 game against Santa Clara.
