Malibu sculpture artist Eugenie Spirito will be one of the eight artists featured in a contemporary fine art show by Estrada Fine Art, May 27 through July 3, at the PYO Art Gallery in Los Angeles, aptly named, “8 Artists.”

“As an abstract impressionist, I like to offer my audience recognizable subjects, but with a twist that makes the familiar seem exotic,” Spirito said in a press release.

Spirito in a press release said she first discovered art when her grandparents took her to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where she was immediately drawn toward the sculptures.

“I liked the other art too,” Espirito said in her biography on Estrada’s Web site. “But it was the Greek and Roman figures that would almost make me cry at their beauty. I guess that I was always an artist; now it’s my passion.”

The opening reception will be held June 5 at PYO Gallery LA, 1100 S. Hope Street, #105 in Los Angeles, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
