Students and faculty at Our Lady of Malibu School participated in a day-early celebration in honor of March 14, AKA “Pi Day.” Pi is a mathematical symbol that represents a ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approximately 3.14159. Each grade recited the digits by memory and seventh-grade students from Ms. Amour’s class recited the first 50 numbers to the tune of “Old MacDonald Had A Farm.”
Student representatives from each grade were chosen to memorize the sequence of numbers for a presentation to the school, and two students perfectly recited over 100 of the Pi numbers.
