Last week (March 14), Mary Wright wrote an eloquent open letter regarding Monsanto’s herbicide Round-up, which is widely sprayed throughout the county, including, as she noted, the entire length of Las Flores Canyon and Piuma roads. Years ago, I too tried to bring this issue to the forefront by confronting state-paid biologists who were spraying this toxic substance adjacent to the Zuma Creek lagoon, where our local ducks and kids alike waddle about. Because the use of Round-Up is indeed associated with numerous medical concerns, and because of the strong Washington, D.C. Monsanto lobby, it is critical that our voices be heard.
