A team of four Malibu High School students won the Judge’s Award at the VEX Robotics Victory in the Valley competition last weekend. The award goes to the team that the judges decide deserves special recognition based on several criteria.

The team — 224 Sharks — was the first-ever group from MHS to compete in the competition and placed 12th out of 38 teams.

The students built their robot, Sharky, after months of studying VEX competition guidelines and specific requirements.

“They made adjustments and experimented with new ideas,” mentor Hung Le said. “It was learning at its finest.”
