Southern California Edison has advised the city of two planned power outages in Malibu that will occur while it conducts maintenance work tomorrow and Friday of next week.
The Civic Center area tomorrow will lose power from 11 p.m. to 10 a.m. Sunday. The Heathercliff Road area on Aug. 21 will lose power from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Power may be off the entire period or may be turned off more than once. Start and end times for the outages are best estimates, Edison said in a written statement.
Residents may consider taking the following precautions prior to the outages to minimize the impact of power interruption: backing up computer data; unplugging sensitive electronic equipment (computers, etc.) excluding refrigeration; checking security gates for manual-release operation; planning to minimize the opening of refrigerator and freezer doors during the outage to maintain temperature; and notifying alarm or security system providers.
Edison reminds those affected by the outages to reset clocks and timers after power is restored.
