Malibuite Burt Jenner and girlfriend Valerie Pitalo raced together in the Mint 400 off road race in Las Vegas, one of the most challenging races in the country. The pair raced well and was in fourth place when the car caught on fire. They were able to get out of the car safely and no one was injured. Additionally, Pitalo competed in the Miss Mint competition. Since the Mint 400 began in 1967, no other woman has competed in both the race and the pageant.
