At the August 10 City Council meeting, I requested an Environmental Impact Report for the Breitman Trust Development Project to go in at the end of Seaboard Road. This includes a 10,000 square foot home with many amenities and three more buildable lots. Thus, the request for one home really means a four home subdivision. In the proposal, a 2,560 square foot concrete road is to begin at the end of Seaboard Road, a seven-foot wide dirt-walking path leading to the building pad. It is to be accessed through the one lane paved Seaboard Road, which will impact 31 homeowners.

The homeowners voiced their concerns at the council meeting: geology stability of dirt road, drainage in canyon and on PCH, ESHA impact, heavy equipment and its impact on the current one lane paved road, traffic congestion and safety in the community. On behalf of the Big Rock Mesa Homeowners, I would like to thank the City Council for its “common sense” conclusion that the Negative Declaration did not address all of these issues and that an Environmental Impact Report is required to fully examine the potential impact of this development.
