Don’t people in Malibu want their beaches back? The sediment that otherwise would have replenished Malibu’s beaches each year is stuck behind Rindge Dam. Because the dam stopped the natural sediment flow, the beaches have eroded without being replenished as they normally would be. As a result, the sand level in front of our former Malibu beach house is at least 10 feet lower than it was 30 years ago. If the residents of Malibu value their beaches, they should be screaming to take down the Rindge Dam and begin the restoration process.
