Malibu Library Speaker Series Enters the Cosmos

On Tuesday, Aug. 29, The Malibu Library will be exploring the cosmos with B. Gentry Lee, chief engineer for the Solar System Exploration Directorate at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena. Lee is also a co-creator of Emmy award-winning TV show “Cosmos.” 

Lee will be speaking at 7 p.m. at Malibu City Hall. He has experience working with the rover Curiosity and its mission to Mars as well as the historic Viking mission, the first time humans successfully landed on another planet. He is also a science fiction novelist, computer product designer, lecturer, television narrator and a Peabody Award winner. 

The Maliba Library Speaker Series has covered a wide margin of topics from deep sea exploration to civil rights over the past several years.

“I encourage anyone who has gazed at the stars and dreamed of space exploration to attend,” Mayor Skylar Peak said in a statement.
