Firefighters extinguished a fire at Beau Rivage Restaurant at 7:48 Monday morning, about an hour and a half after they arrived on scene. A fire department official said Pacific Coast Highway reopened at 7:54 a.m. after being closed during that period, causing a major traffic snarl. All four lanes of PCH are now open and traffic is moving freely. The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are not known.
The fire department received a call at 6:10 a.m. from someone who saw white smoke from about a half-mile away, fire officials said. Firefighters arrived on scene at 6:18 a.m., and fought the fire until 7:48 a.m.
