Webster Elementary fourth- and fifth-grade students treated parents and supporters to music and singing performances Jan. 17 at the school. The students sang songs they learned in choir and played musical instruments they are learning in school.

The young musicians performed with the groups they take lessons with at school. The result was five separate performances by fourth-grade students and three performances by fifth-graders. The school district music teachers used the occasion to demonstrate to parents their instructional strategies, goals and expectations.

“The small group settings make the performances and explanations much more personal and effective,” Sharon Clearwater said. “It was a very inspiring evening for everyone involved, and I want to especially recognize the teachers for their professionalism and enthusiasm. They each teach at five or more schools every week, we all felt that they are completely focused on all of our students.”
