Malibu resident and Westlake Braves player James Townsend recently competed in the National Prep & Youth Football Association’s Rising Star All-American Football Game in Miami, Fla. Townsend, who served as co-captain for the South Team, played center and long snapper, helping to guide the team to a 19-13 victory. The game featured top youth football players from across the country in seventh and eighth grades.Â
Townsend will attend the Football University Top Gun 100 Football Camp in Columbus, Ohio, later this month. He played for the Westlake Braves Youth team last year, as well as for the FBU Northern Los Angeles all-star team.Â
Townsend finished last season by being named to and playing in the Eastbay Youth All- American game in San Antonio, Texas, in January. He will be in eighth grade at St. Jude the Apostle School in Westlake Village this fall and will play for the Westlake Braves senior team.Â
