It has not been determined whether Orlando Castellon, 51 of Bellflower, will be charged after he allegedly drove his car 30 feet off a cliff onto Dan Blocker State Beach near Corral Canyon early Saturday morning.

Castellon was contacted by Sheriff’s deputies after he was found climbing up the cliff prior to the discovery of his car, Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Sgt. Phil Brooks said. He was treated by paramedics for what was believed to be a fall, and transported to the hospital.

A work crew from Los Angeles County Beaches and Harbors later found the abandoned 1997 Isuzu Rodeo floating in the surf. The owner of the 1997 Isuzu Rodeo was not found in the area. The vehicle was traced to Castellon.

Brooks said Castellon initially told deputies that he had been drinking with friends on the beach and that they left him there. He also claimed that he sustained his injuries from climbing up the cliff. Brooks said the suspect changed his story a few times and “initially denied being in a collision, but later admitted to being in a vehicle on the way to work.” Castellon, however, said he was not driving. Blood work is being done, but Brooks said, “It was obvious to deputies and paramedics that he was intoxicated.”
