Thanks for your article in Sunday’s LA Times regarding SB 106, destined for the governor’s signature, allowing Marin County to continue bypassing California’s affordable housing laws. A great fan of Marin’s abundant beauty and charm myself, I’ve difficulty understanding how so liberal and affluent a populace could justify their opposition to a law whose raison d’etre — diversity, integration, fairness — would seem to mark it as shibboleth amongst them. Are we perhaps witnessing here the age old “Not in my backyard?” Under any other name, hypocrisy?
