City Council approved an outreach plan proposed by the Parks and Recreation Commission that will could potentially continue for the next three months.
From Oct. 11 through Dec. 12, an online questionnaire will be made available to all residents in Malibu. A valid Malibu address is required to complete the questionnaire.
The questionnaire includes inquiries for suggested uses at the property such as community facilities, walking trails, a skate park or open space.
On Oct. 17, a teen & youth workshop will be held at Malibu City Hall at 7 p.m.
On Nov. 2, a community workshop will take place at Malibu West Beach Club at 6:30 p.m. Another community workshop is scheduled for Nov. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at Malibu City Hall. All members of the public are welcome to attend either of the community workshops.
The community outreach for Trancas Field is on an accelerated timeline in hopes that the property will be developed “sooner rather than later.” However, if not enough public response is gathered within the approved time frame the outreach may be extended into January 2017.
Trancas Field was officially purchased in September at an annual cost of $600,000 for 30 years, for a total estimated value of $11.2 million.
A previous version of this story listed incorrect dates for some of the workshops and an incorrect end date for the online surveys. This online version contains the corrected information.
