Malibu will be under a fire weather watch from Monday morning through Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. A combination of hot temperatures, low humidity and dry winds has created conditions for elevated fire danger across the Santa Monica Mountains, the NWS reports.

“Both days are expected to see record-breaking triple-digit heat, and widespread single-digit humidities, with very poor overnight recoveries. These forecasted weather conditions combined with very dry fuels have prompted this fire weather watch,” the NWS report stated.

The hot and dry conditions are expected to begin Sunday and ramp up sharply beginning Monday. Offshore winds are expected to gust between 20-30 mph, with slightly weaker winds Tuesday.
