DUI Checkpoint Results in 22 Arrests

A DUI and driver’s license checkpoint in Malibu on Thursday netted 22 arrests, including one for DUI and one for possession of illegal narcotics, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Fourteen others were arrested and sent to court for driving without a license and four were arrested and sent to court for driving with suspended licenses. 

Staged at Pacific Coast Highway and Cross Creek Road from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m., the Thursday night checkpoint was a rare refrain from the typical Saturday night checkpoints held in Malibu throughout the year. 

1,550 vehicles passed through the checkpoint
1,535 drivers checked at the checkpoint
1 DUI arrest
1 illegal possession of narcotics arrest
2 suspects arrested for $3,000 traffic warrants and sent to court
4 suspended/revoked drivers arrested and sent to court
14 unlicensed drivers arrested and sent to court
1 vehicle stored for one day
2 vehicles impounded for 30 days
14 Vehicles were Released per Checkpoint Release Procedures
