Letter to the Editor

In response to “My day with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.” published Jan. 11.

I really enjoyed Burt Ross’s piece on the day Martin Luther King Jr. came to Harvard. So many little personal details of driving him from JFK Airport (how symbolic that feels), from pillar to post, from “’Hood Handshakes” to power naps in Burt’s own dorm bed. What a treasure in the memory! Especially including the picture, taken by the Harvard Crimson, of the two of them standing on the platform of the outbound train from Boston. The photo is kept with family photographs in a safe box (heart icon here), ready to fly out the door during fires, floods, earthquakes or riots: our four seasons in California.

Well done!

Beate Nilsen
