Malibu Rotarians were delighted to get an encore performance last week by the winners of the Annual Malibu Rotary High School Music Competition, which took place in June at Pepperdine University.
The singers were introduced by Irene Messolaroas, their vocal teacher at Malibu High School, and each was presented with a certificate and financial award by Malibu Rotary President Bill Wishard.
First prize winner in the high school division was Taylor Goldsmith, who sang “Bring Him Home.” Taylor performed at the Malibu Inn with a rock group recently, and said he’ll be performing there again before the end of the summer. Taylor will be attending Pepperdine University in the fall.
Ninth-grader Chelsey LeBel sang “One Day More.” She was the third prize winner in the high school division. Seventh-grader Haley Fletcher, who took third prize in the middle school division, performed her rendition of “Till There Was You”.
Other winning singers Sam Posey (3rd place, high school) and Griffith Frank (1st place, middle school) will perform at the Rotary Club meeting on Aug. 27. Dasha Jenson (2nd place, middle school) will perform at the Sept. 3 meeting.
The public is welcome to attend the performances, which will take place at 7:30 a.m. in the Fireside Room at Pepperdine.
