A young female mountain lion was found in the City of Los Angeles on Monday, June 24, according to information from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
“The young, 50-pound female was discovered up a tree yesterday morning in a Pacific Palisades (Los Angeles County) trailer park,” the department shared on social media Tuesday, June 25. Pacific Palisades is a neighborhood in the City of Los Angeles.
Its personnel worked with the National Park Service (NPS) and the Los Angeles Police Department to remove the mountain lion from the park and place a tracking collar and identification tag on her with the use of a tranquilizer.
Nicknamed P-75, the mountain lion was later released into the Santa Monica Mountains area, where she joins nine other lions tracked by NPS.
The last discovered mountain lions were a group of kittens in September 2018, known as P-70, P-71, P-72 and P-73.
