Beware of a candidate who boasts that he, alone, has business powers to perfect a Utopian Malibu! Check to see if a candidate has done anything substantial to help this place which we love. Look for honesty, proven volunteer work and leadership experience in this town. Of the ten “wanna be” candidates, there are some who talk big and who have done little to build this community. I have listened to the promises, but choose to trust my two votes to Lou La Monte and to Laura Rosenthal. These two individuals have worked to build a positive community with compassion and local experience.

Lou La Monte’s concerns for resolving water issues and highway safety are based on his being president of Big Rock Homeowner’s Association. He knows how to build consensus and to budget and delegate. He could be the first City Council representative east of the Malibu Pier, giving balance to the council.

Laura Rosenthal has energetically worked with many levels of local commissions and groups, using her professional interpersonal skills to set goals, raise funds or to problem solve. She listens and takes positive action, which Malibu needs for county and state agency negotiations. We need her strength and local experience.

Let’s elect two smart individuals who have proven track records!
