You probably saw the graphic Malibu Lagoon ad last week in the local papers with the bulldozers and the birds. This is not fantasy folks-it is reality-poisoning and dredging our beautiful lagoon next June with all the birds and wildlife. This is right in the middle of egg-laying season and summer visitor time when traffic will be at its peak. Of course, no surprise, that this is scheduled for the Coastal Commission on October 13 in Oceanside at 9 a.m. (probably a little later because of public comment). The state threw water bond money at the people who want to drive the birds away, destroy the bridges and screw up surfing.
What can you do to help? Visit www.savemalibulagoon.com and send letters to everyone in government to stop the madness. Check out this video, it tells the story beautifully, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJUj7CUXvRw and come to the Save Malibu Lagoon booth at the Farmer’s Market this weekend.
Most of all, alert Malibu by writing a letter to the editor to both the local papers, malibunews@malibutimes.com, we need your help. Visit the lagoon this weekend and get those passionate juices rising. No poison and no dredging.
