Weekend events in Malibu

This Saturday the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life comes to Malibu. The 24-hour nationwide event celebrates cancer survivors, remembers lost loved ones and raises funds to fight the disease.

The walk takes place at Point Mugu State Park/Sycamore Canyon, 9000 Pacific Coast Highway, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday and ending 9 a.m. Sunday. On Saturday, the opening ceremony is at 9 a.m., the survivor’s lap is at 10 a.m., the luminaria ceremony is at 8 p.m., and the fight back/closing ceremony is Sunday at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday also brings a family-friendly outdoor movie event to Malibu. Cinemalibu takes place, featuring a screening of “Megamind,” the animated superhero comedy starring Will Farrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross and Brad Pitt.

The movie event takes place a Bluffs Park, 24250 Pacific Coast Highway, at 7 p.m.
