A 79-year-old female is hoisted into a helicopter that eventually transported her to UCLA Hospital to be treated for a back injury she suffered when her car fell 300 feet over the side of Malibu Canyon Road.

A 79-year-old woman suffered a back injury after driving her car 300 feet over the side of Malibu Canyon Road on Sunday afternoon, according to David Katz, captain of the Malibu Search and Rescue Team (SAR).

Crews from the Los Angeles County Fire Department and SAR responded to the call and helped get the victim airlifted from the canyon to UCLA hospital after her Lexus SUV went plummeting into the canyon.

The rescue happened on the same day SAR had been doing rappel training in Malibu Creek State Park.
