Why should you care about the Development Agreement between the City of Malibu and the Malibu Bay Company? For two reasons:

    1. Malibu needs a state-of-the-art medical facility. St. John’s Hospital is no longer funding the Malibu Urgent Care Center. A nonprofit group, Friends of Malibu Urgent Care, has been formed to work with the City and Pepperdine to develop emergency room level of care 24/7 and possibly a small rural hospital here in Malibu. Malibu Bay Co. plans to build a new medical facility at the current site to help accomplish this goal.

    2. Malibu needs more playing fields for our kids. The open land on PCH between Portshead and Heathercliff will be given to the City along with money to build fields and a senior center. Both are desperately needed by our community. This proposed development offers rational, planned development of our two “city centers,” the Civic Center and Trancas. Come to the hearings. Voice your opinion. Vote for rational development.
