Andi Howard-Rindge and husband Bob renew their vows at their Malibu home.

VOWS AND WOWS

By Kim Devore/ Entertainment Editor

Summer had its share of love, beauty and wedded bliss.

It was aloha all the way as Dr. Lisa Newell tied the knot with her island boy at a splashy Hawaiian-style luau on Point Dume. Actor Martin Landau and other VIPS were among those looking on as Malibu’s vet to the stars waltzed down an aisle of sand to the sound of ukuleles.

Just down the road, record exec Andi Howard-Rindge and hubby Bob were renewing their wedding vows at their breathtaking ocean-view home. The place was packed with professional pals including Concord Record Prez Glen Barros and wife Joanne, Concord’s Klara Fayershteyn and TV scribe Linda Berman.

Fresh as a breeze and both dressed in white, they gazed into each other’s eyes with a loving look that would crack the most hardened cynic.

“Ten years ago, we got married at a friend’s house in Malibu overlooking the Pacific,” they beamed. “Today, we are renewing our vows celebrating 10 years of marriage, once again overlooking the Pacific, only this time in our own home.”

Following the ceremony, the guests were instructed to untie a blue ribbon and open a small white box each of them had been given. One by one, dozens of beautiful monarch butterflies were released into garden.

They were serenaded by famous friends Alan Parsons and David Peck, before cutting into an exquisite white wedding cake and watching fireworks light up the night sky.

Not bad for a replay, and even if they are in the music biz, one can’t help but wonder what these two have planned for an encore.

CIAO, BELLA

Speaking of romantic, Karen and John Aylsworth opened their airy, flower-filled estate for this year’s dinner gala to benefit The Children’s Lifesaving Foundation. Their Tuscan-style home provided the perfect backdrop for “Una Bella Sera-An Italian Evening Under the Stars.”

After listening to a mandolin-playing minstrel, sipping a little Pinot Grigio and munching on crostini, we made our way into an enormous white tent for a live auction, dinner and entertainment. And talk about re-purposing! Karen and John didn’t have to go to much trouble setting up the elegant plastic enclosure-it was already on hand from the night before when the festive pair celebrated their daughter’s wedding.

Gala guests included many of the foundation’s longtime supporters and devoted friends like magazine mega couple Bill and Lisa Curtis, “The Sheild’s” Michael Chiklis, John and Cathy Cygan, and philanthropist Bob Salka.

The Malibu-based foundation serves homeless, at risk and low income kids with educational and enrichment programs.
