Pepperdine University swimmer Amanda Rowe was honored with the West Coast Conference (WCC) Represent Award at the conference’s annual honors banquet on June 7.
The Represent campaign is a WCC sportsmanship campaign that celebrates WCC student-athletes’ competitiveness, character and commitment to representing themselves on and off the playing field.
Rowe was nominated for this year’s award due to her sportsmanship, including the idea to provide snacks and drinks to visiting teams, as well as her dedication after enduring three brain surgeries.
After losing most of her freshman season and all of her sophomore season due to surgeries, Rowe returned to the pool to post personal best times in numerous events during her junior and senior years. She helped lead the Waves to a fourth place finish at this year’s Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference (PCSC) Championships — the team’s highest finish in recent years.
