Journalists from around the world flocked to Maui to attend the Sony/Columbia Pictures and Rovio Entertainment press junket for “The Angry Birds Movie” last month.

The festivities began with a screening of the animated comedy, which is based on the Angry Birds app — the most downloaded mobile game of all time. The film takes place on an island, inhabited mostly by happy flightless birds with a few misfit birds that have anger issues.

Pigs invade the island to steal the birds’ eggs and the tale of how the misfit team bands together to save the eggs from the hungry pigs begins. The all-star cast includes Jason Sudeikis (voice of Red), Bill Hader (voice of Leonard), Josh Gad (voice of Chuck), Danny McBride (voice of Bomb), Maya Rudolph (voice of Matilda), Peter Dinklage (voice of Mighty Eagle) and Sean Penn (voice of Terence).

Angry Bird-based events continued the remainder of the week, including “Anger Management” Angry Bird yoga, a Maui zipline tour, and Pig Roast and Luau, which included entertainment, traditional island dancers and fire dancers. The junket ended with interviews with Sudeikis, Gad and Rudolph.
