Carlos Ivan Rodas, 32, was found lying in a pool of blood outside the restaurant on the evening of Sun., March 18. Last week’s autopsy results determined that Rodas died after suffering a hemorrhage brought on by a fungal infection in his lungs. The infection was a result of tuberculosis, which Rodas had been successfully treated for, according to the press release.
An initial press release circulated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department about four hours after Rodas’ body was found claimed he had been beaten to death. However, three days later the department admitted it was mistaken and that Rodas died of natural causes resulting from an “upper respiratory illness.”
