Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday signed AB 1803, a bill that, in addition to other items, includes the deal for the city of Malibu to purchase the portion of Bluffs Park containing the ball fields.

With the governor’s signing of the bill into law, the city and the California Department of Parks and Recreation can take care of a few remaining issues that will allow the 10-acre property, which also includes a running track and the Michael Landon Community Center, to be purchased by the city for $2.5 million.

A spokesperson for State Parks said, last week, that some more paperwork needs to be done before the deal is officially complete, and that it should take a few weeks to do.
