Elections 2016

A lot of people have been questioning the two front runners for a presidency this year. On one hand, is Hillary Clinton, who is the former head of state and has been marred with controversy over abuse of public office. On the other hand, is Donald Trump, who is a well-known business mogul but with a careless mouth to boot. Since he declared he is running for the highest office in the country, he has made several careless remarks which will make me not vote for him. He is why I think he is ineligible for the Oval office.

He lacks the demeanor and character required to be a president.

Most of the time, Trump acts like a spoiled child who must have his way with everything. He is like the selfish child who seeks personal gratification without thinking about others. He acts like a selfish being who does not think about repercussions before acting out. Just recently, he declared that the election is going to be rigged in Clinton’s favor because he is afraid that the elections may not go his way. This seriously shows that he doubts the incredibility of the elections and in general the state of democracy in the country. Whether or not he considers to contest the legitimacy of Clinton’s win, if she is elected is another different matter. But what’s for sure is that he is mobilizing his supporters to question the legitimacy of elections if Clinton wins. This shows that he expects to win and will not accept anything less than a win. He thinks it is okay to call someone ugly or laugh at the disabled simply because he was born into privilege and thinks it is okay to laugh at people he thinks are less than perfect.

He does not understand policy making matters.

Continuously, Trump has shown that he does not understand policy making issues. One time he suggested that the Us is losing on trade and the trade deficit is the evidence yet these are two different things. Trump does not even understand the US political system as he has not even read the constitution. He wants to be an authoritative president and does not even understand the role of the Congress. Almost all times he has been questioned, he gives vague, non-specific answers to questions. In February, he was explaining to one reporter that he opposed Obamacare. The reporter asked him if he had any better ideas to which he replied that, “I’d replace it” “The reporter asked with what, to which he replied, “Something terrific”.

He is a threat to good relations between the US and other countries.

Donald Trump careless comments suggest that he is a threat to good relations between the US and other countries. In one of his many careless comments, he called out Mexico and accused them of sending their worst citizens (alleged thugs and rapists) into the country. He has stated that if elected president, he will build a wall between the two countries and have Mexico foot the cost of construction. His comments have shown that he is a racist as he has made extreme comments towards the Middle East, Africans and the Latino Americans. He has suggested that the US take control of oil fields in Iraq and Syria being held over by the ISIS and claim them. He also threatened to tear up numerous international agreements; encouraging trade between countries that are friendly with the US and working out agreements between countries he considers hostile.

He judges women harshly and based solely on their physical appearances.

Trump has been known to be cruel to women who don’t measure up to his standards. During his years as the franchise owner of Miss Universe, there were a lot of allegations about demeaning women who didn’t match his standards. He alleged that his former presidential rival Carly Fiorina is ugly. Though he did not directly call her ugly, he explicitly said; “Look at that face! Would anyone vote for that? Can you imagine that the face of our next president?! I mean, she’s a woman, and I’m not supposed to say bad things, but really, folks, come on. Are we serious?” Last March, he retweeted an unflattering photo of Heidi Cruz alongside one of his wife Melania Trump with a caption that read, “No need to Spill the Beans. The images are worth a thousand words.” The backlash he faced later on made him admit his mistake and apologize to the Cruz family.

He makes careless comments.

Trump is known for making careless comments which he would later regret saying. He does not conduct any research before deciding on what to say. Trump has made many careless comments from the time he announced that he would be running for president. In December 2015, he called for a ban on Muslims entering the US as a mechanism to prevent terrorists from entering America. He has announced that if voted as president, he will ensure the law is enforced 100% as if the previous US presidents had not worked hard to see the law being enforced. In a speech in Florida, he called President Obama as the founder of ISIS and called Clinton as the crooked co-founder. In a press conference in July, he suggested that Russian hackers should investigate Clinton’s emails to find the missing emails. He also termed Russian president Vladimir Putin as a better president than the president of US. Just recently, during a rally, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Trump made an apparent joke about the assassination of his rival, Hillary Clinton. Trump argued that Clinton should be assassinated to prevent her from making Supreme Court appointments. He also made jokes about the disabled. He has even called out for the killing of terrorists’ families, mind you, some are not even aware that their sons or daughters are terrorists.
