L.A. County supervisors voted to start a civilian oversight commission to oversee the County Sheriff’s Department, in response to a troubled law enforcement agency.

According to the L.A. Times, a similar proposal was voted down in August, with Zev Yaroslavsky voting against it. The proposal passed this time with a 3-2 majority vote in favor with Sheila Kuehl in office. The proposal was passed to help restore public trust in the law enforcement department, according to the board.
