Congratulations to the Malibu City Council and to Malibu, too, for having its own Malibu Farmer’s Market. No need to fight traffic to Santa Monica. The farmer’s market is more than a quickie-running in and out. It’s a meeting place like no other in Malibu. We get to see old friends and neighbors again, and to make new friends. Today’s Malibu, with its mansions and gates, was losing the friendly character that we have enjoyed for the past 40 years. A hometown, fresh fruit and veggies, plus fabulous arts and crafts, plus music keeps us in Malibu on Sunday. Similar events, the Chamber’s Arts Festival and the Chili Cook-Off also contribute immensely to this hometown atmosphere. No doubt local businesses have a customer increase on Sundays. Yes, the City Council deserves this congratulatory letter for permitting this popular, growing market.
