The Point Dume Marine Science School Community Service Commission raised nearly $2,000 to help children in Uganda get a new school bus.

Students on the Community Service Commission at Point Dume Marine Science School organized a trick-or-treat program this Halloween to help raise money for children in Uganda to get a new school bus. They raised nearly $2,000 through the program.

Point Dume students learned about the “Bus 4 Buyamba” fundraising program through one of their student teachers, Courtney Germann, a Pepperdine University student. The program raises funds for children at the Buyamba School in Kampala. The school’s bus broke down last year, forcing many of the students to walk eight miles each way to and from school.
