Thomas Doyle died July 7 at his home in Malibu. He was 93 years old.
Born Sept. 1, 1915 in La Salle, Ill., his family moved to Altadena when he was six years old. Doyle was a United States Marine Corps fighter pilot in World War II, flying Corsair F4Us while stationed on the U.S.S. Cape Gloucester aircraft carrier at the East China Sea. He was also called to serve in the Korean War.
After the war, he moved to Malibu and built apartments at Big Rock Beach. There he met and married his wife Toni. Last December, they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Doyle was in the real estate business for many years in Malibu. He was an avid Malibu historian and, along with Fred May, Judge John Merrick and Ron Rindge, founded the Malibu Lagoon Museum and wrote “The Malibu Story” and “Malibu Potteries” books.
He is survived by his wife Toni, daughter Kathleen Doyle and son John Doyle.
