Malibu High School music students swept their divisions at the Music in the Parks Festival at Disneyland April 12-13. The locals competed against students from all over the western United States and won each category they entered.

The MHS Wind Ensemble, MHS Jazz Band, MHS Middle School Orchestra and the MHS High School Orchestra all earned first place. The orchestra students also earned two more prestigious honors, for Best Overall Middle School Orchestra and Best Overall High School Orchestra at the competition. The high school orchestra received the highest scores of any group (band, choir, or orchestra) at the entire festival.

While some schools brought elite, auditioned ensembles, Malibu was represented by all its instrumental students. Despite the disadvantage, the local musicians emerged victorious from the competition.
