Hayden Sohm’s letter in your Aug. 1 issue pointing out that the graffiti on El Matador Beach is not on state property misses the point. This State Park serves and provides access for the visitors who deface the natural beauty of the beach, whether they do this on State Park’s land or next door to it. The graffiti that I saw appeared to be on the same beach as the lifeguard station manned by State Parks people, or just around a rock promontory reachable at all times except at high tide.

For your readers’ information, my 22-minute video, “Hiking Malibu’s Coastline From End to End,” has been given to Charter Communications and should be broadcast on the local cable channel (Channel 3) in the next week or so. Watch for it. You will see a Malibu that may surprise you.

My next video project will be on the Rindge Dam, to show that the money being spent and proposed to be spent (over $40 million) is a colossal waste-over $1 million for each California steelhead trout which might benefit (but really will not.).
