Prominent local business owners were accused of “having a big heart for Jerry’s kids,” when they volunteered to be “arrested and serve time” in a mock jail at Gladstone’s on June 12 for six hours. To raise “bail,” the “inmates” called their friends to encourage contributions. As a result, more than $7,000 was raised for the Muscular Dystrophy Associ-ation.
Top “bail raisers” were: Donny Conn of Convention Connection, $1,335; Mark Armfield of Armfield Design & Construction, $1,275; Pat Burke of Pat’s Topanga Grill, $1,169; Mary Pritchard of Malibu Fitness, $800; and Dean Lehman of Road Maintenance District 3, $730.
Many other businesses participated including the Malibu Senior Citizens Club, Wells Fargo Bank, R.B. Wilken Architecture and J. Carrroll Entertainment.
