Our Lady of Malibu School student Casey Kelly recently qualified for the 2017 California Surf Lifesaving Association Regional Championships Los Angeles County Junior Life Guard team in the 1,500-meter beach run by placing second out of 78 competitors from Zuma, Will Rogers State and Venice beaches.
The CSLSA Regional Championships took place on July 2 at Silver Strand Beach on Coronado Island, with participants from 28 Junior Guard teams from Santa Cruz to San Diego. Kelly will head to the CSLSA National Championships on Aug. 9 at Daytona Beach where he will represent the southwest region.
