Judge Bernard J. Kamins will be honored by the CLARE Foundation at its annual Tribute Dinner on Thursday. He will be presented with the Spirit of CLARE Award for his contributions to the foundation’s Drug Court Program.
For seven years, beginning in 1986, Kamins presided over the Los Angeles Court’s West District Drug Court, a diversionary program created to give addicts the tools to stay sober and to reintegrate themselves into the community. The CLARE press release states, “Judge Kamins, who is known among his colleagues to be ‘a man with incredible integrity,’ strongly believes that Drug Court programs such as CLARE’s motivate drug abusers to seek treatment and move toward living healthy, rewarding lifestyles.”
CLARE provides treatment and recovery services for alcoholism and substance abuse to individuals, families and the community. The dinner will take place at Casa Del Mar, located at 1910 Ocean Way in Santa Monica. It will begin at 6 p.m. To purchase tickets, go to www.clarefoundation.org.
