Fishy goings-on

Re: Laura Tate’s article. The squid boats haven’t been coming here every year like the swallows to San Juan Capistrano. The last four years their numbers have been growing and as they increase so do their fishing hours; days on end, nights on end.

You people who think the lights are beautiful aren’t wrong, but what you don’t hear are the noisy engines, loud generators, poor running nets and seal bombs all night long until dawn. The people who live on the bluff or beach now have a noisy PCH to their back and a noisy ocean to their front.

We do need a commercial free zone off our coast. Mary Frampton is right. Why can the squid and lobster fisherman take unlimited amounts and fish on shore if they want? Where is the fish and game when they are fishing?
