The largest five-person team relay race in the United States, the Saint John’s Jimmy Stewart Relay Marathon, comprised of more than 20 divisions is celebrating its 23rd annual event on April 18 at Griffith Park.
Since its inception in 1982, the Relay Marathon has raised more than $8.2 million. All proceeds from the Marathon support programs and services at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica.
The organizing committee members for the event are local business people who donate their time and expertise to make the Saint John’s Jimmy Stewart Relay Marathon the best event it can be for 2004.
A reception recognizing marathon sponsors took place Tuesday at Spago.
Hosting the reception was Robert Wagner. Gary Bryan of KEARTH-101, who will be leading the KEARTH team in the first-ever Media Invitational Relay Challenge also attended.
The 20 divisions are organized according to age, gender and corporate/industry affiliation. Each individual will run 5.2 miles before passing the baton for a total of 26 miles.
