I have to respond to the council’s ridiculous ban on smoking on the beach.
This is yet another infringement on personal choice and where will this end? Already bared bosoms are banned, whereas in Europe and Australia, this is the norm. What will be banned next? Perfume in sunscreen since some people are allergic? How petty can one get?
I have never smoked in my life and avoid smoky environments, but the beach is one place I feel people should be able to relax and unwind discreetly, as they choose.
Concentrate on the real problems on our beaches, like litter, vandalism and boom boxes and walk away from the smokers.
